The New Jersey economic mission is in full swing – since the six-day trip began in the Saudi Arabian capital city of Riyadh.
As NJBIZ reported, a Letter of Intent was signed at the outset of the trip between Rutgers University and King Saud University.
Other notable activity on the trip, led by Gov. Phil Murphy, so far includes:
- Attended a business roundtable lunch meeting with Abdallah S. Jum’ah, Saudi co-chairman, U.S.-Saudi Business Council, and chairman of the Saudi Investment Bank (SAIB)
- Visited Diriyah, the birthplace of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the ancestral home of the Al Saud family
- Participated in a roundtable meeting with the Saudi Exports Development Authority (SEDA)
- Met with professor Einas Aleisa, president of Princess Nourah Bint Abdulrahman University
- Attended a meeting with Bader bin Abdulrahman Alkadi, the vice minister of sport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to discuss bilateral cooperation in global sporting initiatives; with a focus on the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup and the 2026 FIFA World Cup – as well as discussing a potential partnership on esports initiatives
“New Jersey and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia share a commitment to innovation, investment, and education,” Murphy stressed. “Together, we have a strong foundation to deepen our economic, academic, and cultural ties – opening new opportunities for collaboration, growth, and mutual prosperity.”
