Government of Karnataka signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with the New Jersey Department of State, United States on Tuesday. This agreement will look to strengthen ties between the two regions, with a focus on technology, innovation, and economic development.

The LoI was signed by Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary of the Karnataka department, and Tahesha L. Way, Lieutenant Governor of New Jersey. The partnership will establish a framework for collaboration between Bengaluru and New Brunswick, with a range of initiatives to support technological and economic exchanges.

Key areas outlined in the agreement include deeper connections between the startup ecosystems of both regions, with an emphasis on lifesciences, deep technologies like cybersecurity and artificial intelligence, and electronics. The initiative also includes twin-city collaborations that will allow Bengaluru and New Brunswick to share expertise and work on common challenges in these critical sectors.

Dr. Caur lauded the partnership as a pivotal milestone in Karnataka’s journey to cement its position as a global leader in innovation. “This partnership with New Jersey is a significant milestone in Karnataka’s mission to strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation. We are excited about the opportunities this collaboration presents, particularly in technology, startups, and key sectors like AI and electronics,” she said.

This agreement is a part of Karnataka’s Global Innovation Alliances (GIA) initiative, which seeks to build international partnerships that drive innovation and promote knowledge exchange.
