New Jersey Medical Schools

Originally launched in partnership with Seton Hall University, the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine is now an independent medical school located on the ON3 campus in Nutley and Clifton, New Jersey. The school welcomed its inaugural class in 2018 and quickly established itself as a medical education, research, and clinical training leader.

Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine (Rowan-Virtua SOM), located just minutes from Philadelphia, offers an accredited four-year program leading to a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree. The school is recognized for its academic excellence, research, funding, and student diversity. In 2021, Rowan-Virtua SOM expanded by opening a second campus on the grounds of Rowan College of South Jersey (RCSJ) in Sewell, initially admitting 72 first-year medical students. This expansion has contributed to the school’s growth, with total medical school enrollment reaching 1,022 students in the 2024-2025 academic year. Rowan-Virtua SOM’s osteopathic graduate medical education program remains one of the largest and most comprehensive in the nation.

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School (NJMS) is a premier medical institution within Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences and is dedicated to excellence in medical education, research, and patient care. NJMS offers a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree and MD/PhD and MD/MPH dual-degree programs, preparing graduates for diverse careers in healthcare and research.

Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School (RWJMS), a part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences, is committed to excellence in medical education, advanced research, community health, and patient care.
