New Jersey Europe Center

New Jersey is the ideal state for European companies looking to expand, as trade and economic partnership between our two regions boom.

A Gateway of Opportunity for European Companies

The New Jersey Europe Center was established in 2018, following an economic mission led by Governor Phil Murphy, a former U.S. ambassador to Germany. Since its founding, the Center has become a cornerstone of Choose New Jersey’s efforts to attract European companies looking to thrive in the North American market. Based in Berlin, Germany, our mission is to bridge European innovation with New Jersey’s dynamic business landscape.

Recognizing the shared priorities between European countries and New Jersey, particularly in fintech, biotech, medtech, food manufacturing, and clean energy, we are committed to facilitating connections that drive economic growth.

Why European Companies Choose New Jersey

A Strategic Location

New Jersey’s central location between Boston and Washington, D.C. gives European companies easy access to over 46 million consumers within a four-hour drive, with increased same-day delivery options. Northeast New Jersey, just 20 minutes from NYC via PATH or ferry, offers 40% lower real estate costs than New York City.

A Transportation Hub

New Jersey’s infrastructure—highways, ports, and airports—facilitates efficient, cost-effective goods movement. Newark Liberty International offers 262 daily non-stop flights to 76 global destinations, and the Port of New York and New Jersey ensures swift cargo delivery. This strategic advantage helps manufacturers in New Jersey outpace competitors by reaching markets faster.

Join the Best of the Best

New Jersey is home to 14 Fortune 500 companies and over 1,100 multinational corporations, solidifying its position as a central hub for international commerce and innovation. The State boasts the highest concentration of engineers and scientists per square mile in the United States. With top-tier universities, research institutions, and proactive workforce development programs, New Jersey ensures a steady influx of skilled talent, driving innovation and supporting business growth.

Success Stories

Bayer Healthcare

Bayer Healthcare worked with Choose New Jersey to establish its U.S. headquarters in New Jersey — a natural place to expand, as the state has a long history as a hub for the pharmaceutical industry. Bayer, which is based in Leverkusen, Germany, and is one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, consolidated its offices to a 94-acre campus in Whippany, New Jersey, in 2013. It previously had operations in Morristown, Montville, Wayne, and Tarrytown, New York. The environmentally friendly campus includes 700,000 square feet of office space and state-of-the-art technology.
