New Delhi, India – Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation arrived in India this week, kicking off Choose New Jersey’s six-day, four-city Governor-led economic mission in the capital city of New Delhi, flying via United Airlines, the official travel partner for the mission. The trip will build on New Jersey’s long-standing relationship with India and marks the Governor’s first return since his 2019 economic mission, with a focus on academic collaboration and business expansion across key industries of life sciences and technology.

Fireside Chat on Building Economic Relations at the Public Affairs Forum of India (PAFI) 12th Annual Forum

Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation attended the Public Affairs Forum of India’s (PAFI) 12th Annual Forum to discuss the future of emerging technologies in key industries. Governor Murphy participated in a fireside chat titled “State Leadership to Build Economic Relations: View from New Jersey,” and hosted by Mr. Sukumar Ranganthan, Editor of the Hindustan Times, who discussed New Jersey’s strengths and the role of governance in creating economic opportunities. The event created opportunities for collaboration and partnership with leading policymakers and corporations in India.
Governor Murphy Celebrates Signing of MOUs Between New Jersey and Indian Universities, Hospitals to Advance Cardiovascular Research and Innovation

Governor Murphy witnessed the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs): one between Rutgers University’s Robert Wood Johnson Medical School’s Division of Cardiovascular Disease and Hypertension and Govind Ballabh Pant Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research in New Delhi (GIPMER), one of India’s leading medical institutions, and another between Montclair State University and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), the world’s largest higher education network representing more than 1,100 universities across India. Rutgers Chancellor Francine Conway, along with Montclair State University President Jonathan Koppell, participated in the signings. The first agreement will encourage collaborations in cardiovascular medicine, surgery, pathology and biobanking, medical imaging, artificial intelligence, digital health, and clinical trials. The second agreement establishes a mutual commitment to academic and cultural exchange, where students will study and conduct research in New Jersey and India.
Roundtable with Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) of India

Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation participated in the Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) of India’s roundtable discussion on international expansion opportunities for India’s technology industry, including the electronics, information communication technology, and software services exports sectors. The Electronics and Computer Software Export Promotion Council (ESC) of India, which counts Futuresoft Systems, Inc. and Shivami Cloud Services Pvt. Ltd. among its New Jersey-based members, hosted more than 15 member companies during the roundtable. Wes Mathews, Tim Sullivan, and Kris Kolluri presented on New Jersey’s robust technology ecosystem and incentives for businesses.
First Lady Tammy Murphy Visits Crysta IVF, Meets Clinic Founder to Discuss Reproductive Healthcare
First Lady Tammy Murphy visited Crysta IVF, a reproductive healthcare facility founded by Dheeraj Jain, for a tour and discussion on advancements in reproductive health care, innovations in IVF treatments, and the role of similar clinics in supporting family planning and maternal health initiatives in New Delhi. The visit highlighted shared values of access to healthcare and quality patient care between New Jersey and India.
Roundtable with U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF)

Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation attended a high tea roundtable hosted by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), a leading platform for advancing U.S.-India commercial and strategic relations and a top international partner of New Jersey. The event highlighted New Jersey’s world-class talent and an innovation ecosystem to create opportunities for partnership and attract foreign direct investment to the state.
First Lady Visits with with One Life to Love
First Lady Tammy Murphy, joined by a limited New Jersey delegation, met with Courtney Deacon Lalotra, Founder of One Life to Love, at The Oberoi in New Delhi. The meeting included children supported by the organization, who shared their personal stories. One Life to Love, founded by Ms. Lalotra, originally from Brick, New Jersey, provides shelter, education, healthcare, nutrition, and emotional support to abandoned and special-needs children, with its flagship Home of Hope in Delhi rescuing children from the streets and providing a safe environment to grow and learn.
The engagement highlighted the organization’s social impact and explored ways for New Jersey and One Life to Love to collaborate through community engagement, diaspora support, and shared humanitarian values. First Lady Murphy presented a Tier 2 gift in appreciation of Ms. Lalotra’s leadership. The organization’s work has been recognized both in India and the U.S., including a resolution from the New Jersey State Senate and previous acknowledgment by the First Lady during the India–U.S. Business Syndicate in 2017.
Roundtable with U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)

Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation attended a high tea roundtable hosted by the U.S.-India Business Council (USIBC), a U.S. Chamber of Commerce program that promotes bilateral trade between India and the United States, and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-governmental organization that links industry and government to create business in India. Top leaders from each organization met privately with Governor Murphy and the New Jersey delegation to discuss investment, business expansion, and partnerships to drive economic growth in New Jersey. The roundtable also featured remarks from Kean University President Lamont Repollet, who highlighted New Jersey’s strengths in higher education and global academic partnerships.

Campus Visit to HCLTech
Governor Phil Murphy, First Lady Tammy Murphy, and the New Jersey delegation toured the HCLTech campus, led by Chairperson Roshni Nadar and COO Rahul Singh. HLCTech is a leading global IT services and consulting company with operations in East Brunswick. The visit included a discussion on further expansion of HCLTech’s operations in New Jersey, job creation, and the impact on New Jersey’s innovation ecosystem in financial services, healthcare, and manufacturing.
