New Jersey is The World’s State™. Here’s why…

New Jersey is The World’s State™ — a global hub that draws immigrants and international businesses from around the world. They arrive in pursuit of personal and business success and bring with them diverse perspectives, innovative ideas, and unique traditions that enrich New Jersey’s culture and economy, creating vibrant communities and enhancing the state’s global appeal.

What makes New Jersey The World’s State™?

First and foremost, it’s our people. New Jersey has the second-highest population of foreign-born residents in the United States. The mosaic of cultures, languages, and traditions they have created blankets the state, breathing life into our vibrant cities, bustling downtowns, and diverse communities. Robbinsville is home to the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, the largest active Hindu temple in the world. Palisades Park has the highest density of Korean-Americans of any municipality in the United States. The Mount Carmel Italian Festival in Hammonton is the oldest continuously running festival in the United States. We could say more, but simply put, New Jersey offers a welcoming home to people of all backgrounds.

It’s our policies. With New Jersey’s range of talents, perspectives, and backgrounds, it’s no wonder we stand out as a global leader in economic development. New Jersey is proud to have the second-highest percentage of jobs generated by immigrant-owned businesses and the highest proportion of foreign-born STEM workers. In the past 20 years, New Jersey has attracted $20.9 billion in foreign direct investment. State agencies like the New Jersey Economic Development Authority have made it their mission to empower immigrant-owned businesses through incentives and specialized support, affirming that diversity is a powerful engine for economic growth.

It’s our connectivity. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) makes it easy to access the world, with an average of 262 nonstop international flights to 76 global destinations daily. Newark and New York City airports create the #1 busiest airport system in the United States and transport more passengers than any other regional airport system in the world. The nearby Philadelphia International Airport offers even more flights, making travel between countries convenient for businesses and individuals.

It’s our values. In New Jersey, we don’t just talk about values. We live them. New Jersey’s public schools lead the nation in foreign language enrollment, and we were among the first states to mandate an LGBTQIA+ and disability-inclusive history curriculum, ensuring our students receive a globalized and comprehensive education. Our many higher education institutions — including 32 thriving public universities — are celebrated for their ethnic diversity, preparing students to thrive in a multicultural world. With strong gun regulations and a history of protecting rights, New Jersey is a beacon of safety and inclusion for all people.

This is New Jersey. Welcome to The World’s State™.
